RAPA LP in Auburn, AL seeks a Group Leader - Controls Engineering with expertise in Beckhoff TwinCAT and PLCs to lead the controls and testing teams.

The role requires strong programming skills, experience with electrical cabinet design, and collaboration with R&D and manufacturing. Travel to Germany may be required; excellent problem solving and leadership are essential for driving project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• At least 6 years in production processes, automotive, or test labs.
• Proficiency in programming languages (C++/Java/Visual Basic/Python).
• Beckhoff TwinCAT PLC and Drives knowledge; Structured Text required.
• LabVIEW knowledge is a plus; ability to read IEC 60617 electrical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the controls and testing engineers to meet project and department goals.
• Hire, train, and grow engineers within the department.
• Develop and implement control strategies, network architecture, wiring, PLC programs, and test interfaces.
• Oversee equipment vendors, coordinate plans, and resolve conflicts with other teams.
• Lead runoff/installation, budgeting, and IT infrastructure initiatives.
• Collaborate with international IT teams and travel as needed.
