Job summary

Mach Industries seeks a Principal Automation Engineer, Controls in Huntington Beach, CA to own the factory controls platform architecture and deployment. You will establish Beckhoff TwinCAT as the standardized controls platform, develop automation equipment for pilot lines, and scale these architectures through external integrators on $20M+ capital programs.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role, moving between defining architecture, writing production code, reviewing integrator designs,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a listed engineering field.
8+ years in industrial automation/controls.
Strong PLC programming and debugging skills.
Experience owning controls architecture for automated equipment.
Experience with system integrators/OEMs/suppliers.
Knowledge of machine-safety systems and industrial networks.

Responsibilities

Own controls architecture and roadmap, standardized around Beckhoff TwinCAT.
Define standards for PLC software, IPCs, EtherCAT, motion control, safety, and interfaces.
Develop reusable TwinCAT libraries and fault handling strategies.
Lead safety and functional-safety architecture and validation.
Design, program, integrate, and commission pilot equipment.
Translate pilot architectures to scalable production standards.
Lead technical design reviews and FAT/SAT, installation, and run at rate.
