Job summary

Rausch and Pausch LP (RAPA) in Auburn, AL is seeking a Group Leader for Controls Engineering to lead a team in developing and maintaining machine controls and testing equipment.

The ideal candidate has a B.E. in Electrical Engineering, at least 6 years in production or automotive testing, and hands-on PLC programming with Beckhoff TwinCat; travel to Germany may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
• At least 6 years of experience in production processes, automotive industry or product testing
• Programming in one high-level language (C++/Java/Visual Basic/Ruby/Python)
• Beckhoff TwinCat PLC and Drive technology knowledge
• Ability to program in Structured Text
• Reading electrical drawings in IEC 60617 standard
• Knowledge of NFPA70 and 79 electrical norms
• Ability to design electrical cabinets
• Willingness to travel to Germany and hold a passport
• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate technical adeptness in manufacturing processes and work with R&D, equipment, and operations to develop and maintain controls and testing equipment.
• Troubleshoot operational problems, develop process control strategies, and provide training.
• Manage day-to-day activities of controls and testing engineers to meet project and departmental goals.
• Hire, train, and grow engineers within the department.
• Participate in leadership meetings to set goals, priorities and strategies.
• Oversee IT budgeting and facility IT systems coordination with Germany.
• Lead development of process and machine control design including PLC, wiring diagrams, and interface equipment.
• Lead runoff, installation and integration plans for new equipment.
• Manage capital projects focused on process control integration or upgrades.
• Serve as liaison with Germany IT teams to standardize IT infrastructure.
