Job summary

Dematic is seeking a qualified engineer to design semi-complex systems that integrate hardware and software, write PLC code, and support material specification and BOM development on customer sites.

You will lead semi-complex projects from design through documentation and forecasting, troubleshoot on-site, and interact directly with customers. Travel of 25–40% is expected; a 4-year degree is required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with PLCs, with preference for Allen Bradley, Schneider Unity, or Siemens TIA Portal.
• Knowledge of Profibus, ASi, Ethernet networks.
• Experience writing descriptions of operations and developments of controls based physical layouts.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical.
• Ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with on-site startup/commissioning.
• Experience with material handling systems preferred.
• 4-year degree or equivalent; travel 25–40%.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the design of semi-complex systems that integrate hardware and software.
• Write PLC code for semi-complex systems utilizing standard practices.
• Provides support in semi-complex material specification, schematic preparation, bill-of-materials development, and appropriate follow-up.
• Participates in recommending ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction.
• Independently run semi-complex projects through the project life cycle, including all design, documentation, and forecasting.
• Assist in complex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system design.
• Troubleshoot programming and electrical issues that arise on site.
• Interact directly with the customer on site.
