Job summary

Avery Dennison Identification Solutions Group North America is seeking a Controls Engineer for our Fort Wayne, IN manufacturing site. You will be the site’s technical expert for industrial control systems, OT networks, and automation projects, driving continuous improvement and leading capital upgrades.

You will report to the Engineering Manager and collaborate with Maintenance, IT, Operations, and Management to deliver high-level solutions and ensure safety, compliance, and reliability across

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• 3–5+ years of controls/automation experience in manufacturing
• 2+ years of capital project management
• Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, AutomationDirect, ABB, Lenze)
• Experience with drive configurations (Allen Bradley Powerflex, Siemens) and HMI/SCADA (Aveva/Wonderware)
• Knowledge of AutoCAD electrical design and NEC/NFPA codes; IEC 61131-3 standards
• OT networking and MS Windows server environments
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration

Responsibilities

• Design, program, implement, and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems across the facility; standardize control systems across equipment sets
• Manage OT networks with corporate IT to ensure cybersecurity and data integrity
• Lead capital projects, equipment installation, upgrades, migrations; contribute to strategic capital plans
• Provide high-level troubleshooting and long-term engineered solutions for complex controls or network issues
• Identify safety issues, maintain electrical documentation in AutoCAD, conduct training for maintenance and operations
