Job summary

CyberCoders is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, and commission PLC-based control systems for industrial equipment in Connecticut. You will develop PLC and HMI programs, integrate automation hardware, and troubleshoot to improve performance, reliability, and safety.

This role requires hands-on experience with Rockwell/Studio 5000 or Siemens TIA Portal, knowledge of PID tuning, VFDs, and strong collaboration with mechanical engineers and operations staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in industrial controls, automation, or related engineering.
• Hands-on PLC programming experience (Rockwell/Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal).
• Experience with HMI/SCADA screens and operator interfaces.
• Familiarity with control fundamentals, PID tuning, motor/VFD control.
• Knowledge of industrial protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profinet).
• Ability to read electrical schematics and perform field commissioning.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Automation Professional) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission PLC-based control systems for equipment.
• Develop and maintain HMI/SCADA interfaces with alarms and diagnostics.
• Create electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.
• Perform system integration including sensors, actuators, VFDs, and networking.
• Debug and troubleshoot during field commissioning to minimize downtime.
• Implement control strategies, PID tuning, and safety interlocks.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, production, and vendors.
• Prepare technical documentation and provide operator training.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase automation.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
