Job summary

Symbotic in Wilmington, MA is seeking an Advanced Industrial Controls Engineer to lead PLC and HMI development for our industrial automation team. You will define technical work, validate requirements with stakeholders, and drive test strategies on customer projects, onsite or remotely.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in electrical/controls engineering or related field, 5+ years designing and implementing industrial control systems with Rockwell PLCs, HMIs, and drives, plus

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or related field.
5+ years designing & implementing industrial control systems using PLCs, HMIs, and drives.
5+ years programming Rockwell PLCs (ControlLogix/GuardLogix) and related equipment.
Experience with industrial networks and HMI platforms (Ignition, FactoryTalk).

Responsibilities

Elaborate, define, and plan technical work from objectives, validating requirements with stakeholders.
Lead test strategy execution, test plans, reports, and compliance demonstrations.
Provide autonomous technical leadership and supervise others as needed.
Develop new control functionalities and modify existing PLC/HMI solutions.
Document equipment configurations, system functionality, and team processes.
Collaborate with release management and perform PLC/HMI updates on-site or remotely.
Support customers to address issues and travel up to 40% as required.
