Job summary

Oklo is seeking a Controls Engineer to join the Fuel Fabrication team in Idaho Falls. You will develop instrumentation and controls systems, connect equipment to SCADA, and design SQL databases to store process and quality data for fuel manufacturing facilities under design and construction.

The role requires cross-functional collaboration, troubleshooting PLCs/DCS/HMIs, and supporting commissioning with FAT/SAT and IQ/OQ/PQ validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of instrumentation and controls engineering experience including PLC, SCADA, SQL databases, and V&V in a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Ability to write scripts in Python, VBA, or similar for data manipulation.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate on cross-functional teams with vendors and engineers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear documentation.

Responsibilities

• Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLCs, DCS, and HMIs.
• Select, calibrate, and maintain field devices (temperature, pressure, flow, level transmitters).
• Integrate machine-level data into the facility SCADA system with vendors and process engineers.
• Design, implement, and manage SQL databases to store process data and quality metrics.
• Develop digital facility tools like preventative maintenance and work-order tracking, inventory control.
• Develop automated pass/fail logic within SCADA/MES for traceability and QA reports.
• Perform FAT/SAT for software and control interfaces, ensuring data packets are captured during cycling.
• Draft and execute IQ/OQ/PQ validation protocols for digital systems.
