Job summary

Oklo in Idaho Falls is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead design, integration, commissioning, and operation of instrumentation and control systems for test platforms in advanced nuclear technology development.

The role involves translating requirements into reliable measurement, control, data-acquisition, and protective functions, with up to 10% travel and close collaboration with cross-functional teams throughout the system lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, nuclear engineering or related technical field.
• Experience designing, specifying, procuring, commissioning, or troubleshooting process and mechanical equipment.
• Experience preparing or reviewing P&IDs, PFDs, equipment data sheets, calculations, specs, and vendor drawings.
• Knowledge of pumps, valves, piping, heat exchangers, tanks, pressure equipment, heaters, or similar components.
• Ability to perform fluid-flow, pressure-drop, heat-transfer, and equipment-sizing calculations.
• Ability to lift, move, and position equipment up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Develop control-system architectures, functional requirements, I/O strategies, network concepts for test platforms.
• Select and specify instruments for temperature, pressure, flow, level and other measurements; assess accuracy and environmental suitability.
• Develop, configure, and verify control logic, alarms, interlocks, and data-acquisition functions using DCS/PLC platforms.
• Prepare I/O lists, data sheets, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, narratives, and as-built records.
• Coordinate integration of instruments, control panels, remote I/O, analyzers, valves, networks with equipment.
• Develop verification activities, site tests, loop checks, and startup plans.
• Diagnose instrumentation, controls, electrical and data-acquisition issues; perform root-cause investigations.
