Job summary

Software Placement Group, SPG, is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to support a growing manufacturer in Oneida, NY. You will design and integrate machine control systems, develop PLC logic, and lead equipment commissioning across multiple facilities, with ~30% travel.

The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, AutoCAD design, and collaboration with maintenance teams to optimize production. A BS or AS in Engineering with 5+ years' experience and expertise in Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, AutoCAD,

Qualifications

Requires AAS or BS in Engineering and 5+ years' experience (equivalent years considered)
Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and AutoCAD
Familiarity with National Electrical Code and machine safety standards

Responsibilities

Design and develop machine control systems using AutoCAD, including sizing of VFDs, motors, filters, protection devices, PLCs, and HMIs
Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs and ladder logic; support Siemens controls
Lead installation, integration, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment across multiple local facilities (~30% travel)
Provide hands-on electrical and controls troubleshooting to maintenance teams
