Job summary

H. T. PROF Group seeks a Controls Engineer for a World Class Manufacturer near Oneida, NY. You will design and develop machine control systems using AutoCAD, size VFDs, motors, protections, PLCs, and HMIs; program Allen-Bradley PLCs and ladder logic with Siemens support.

You will lead installation, integration and commissioning of new equipment across local facilities (≈30% travel) and provide hands-on troubleshooting for maintenance teams to boost production.

Qualifications

• AAS or BS in Engineering with 5+ years of experience, or equivalent.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with NEC and machine safety standards.
• Eligible to work in US without restriction indefinitely.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop machine control systems using AutoCAD, including sizing and selection of VFDs, motors, filters, protection devices, PLCs, and HMIs.
• Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs and ladder logic; Siemens controls support.
• Lead installation, integration, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment across multiple local facilities (≈30% travel).
• Provide hands-on electrical and controls troubleshooting to maintenance teams, including diagnostics, upgrades, wiring, and real-time issue resolution.
• Connect to equipment, diagnose control system issues, and modify or develop PLC logic to support production and operational improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and develop machine control systems using AutoCAD, including sizing and selection of VFDs, motors, filters, protection devices, PLC's, and HMI's.
• Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs and ladder logic systems, along with Siemens controls support.
• Lead installation, integration, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment across multiple local facilities (approximately 30% travel).
• Provide hands‑on electrical and controls troubleshooting support to maintenance teams, including equipment diagnostics, upgrades, wiring, and real‑time machine issue resolution.
• Connect to equipment, diagnose control system issues, and modify or develop PLC logic to support production and operational improvements.

Education and Experience

• AAS or BS in Engineering and 5+ years of experience. Will also consider multiple years of equivalent experience in lieu of formal degree.
• Experience with PLC’s, HMI’s and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with National Electrical Code and machine safety standard.
• Candidates must be eligible to work in US without restriction indefinitely.
