Aspire Talent Solutions is seeking a Controls Engineer in the Oneida, NY area to design, program, and commission machine control systems for a world-class manufacturer. You will size and select VFDs and motors using AutoCAD, work with Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMI systems, and support Siemens controls as needed.

The role involves hands-on troubleshooting, equipment commissioning, and traveling to multiple local facilities up to about 30% of the time.

Qualifications

• AAS or BS in Engineering with 5+ years of experience or equivalent.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with NEC and machine safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop machine control systems using AutoCAD, sizing and selecting VFDs, motors, filters, protections, PLCs, and HMIs.
• Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs and ladder logic; support Siemens controls.
• Lead installation, integration, and commissioning of new equipment across local facilities (≈30% travel).
• Provide on-site electrical and controls troubleshooting, diagnostics, upgrades, wiring, and real-time issue resolution.

Controls Engineer (100-120K)

We are seeking a Controls Engineer to work for a World Class Manufacturer near the Oneida, NY area.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and develop machine control systems using AutoCAD, including sizing and selection of VFDs, motors, filters, protection devices, PLC's, and HMI's.
• Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs and ladder logic systems, along with Siemens controls support.
• Lead installation, integration, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment across multiple local facilities (approximately 30% travel).
• Provide hands-on electrical and controls troubleshooting support to maintenance teams, including equipment diagnostics, upgrades, wiring, and real-time machine issue resolution.
• Connect to equipment, diagnose control system issues, and modify or develop PLC logic to support production and operational improvements.

Education and Experience

• AAS or BS in Engineering and 5+ years of experience. Will also consider multiple years of equivalent experience in lieu of formal degree.
• Experience with PLC’s, HMI’s and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with National Electrical Code and machine safety standard.
• Candidates must be eligible to work in US without restriction indefinitely.
