True North Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Controls Engineer to support a World-Class Manufacturer near Oneida, NY.

This role emphasizes design and implementation of machine control systems using AutoCAD, PLCs, and HMIs, with hands-on commissioning and 30% travel to local facilities. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of engineering experience, proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLCs and Siemens controls, and familiarity with NEC and machine safety standards.

Qualifications

• AAS or BS in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with National Electrical Code and machine safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop machine control systems using AutoCAD, including sizing and selection of VFDs, motors, filters, protection devices, PLCs, and HMIs.
• Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs and ladder logic systems, along with Siemens controls support.
• Lead installation, integration, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment across multiple local facilities (approximately 30% travel).
• Provide hands-on electrical and controls troubleshooting support to maintenance teams, including equipment diagnostics, upgrades, wiring, and real-time machine issue resolution.
• Connect to equipment, diagnose control system issues, and modify or develop PLC logic to support production and operational improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and develop machine control systems using AutoCAD, including sizing and selection of VFDs, motors, filters, protection devices, PLC's, and HMI's.

• Familiarity with National Electrical Code and machine safety standard.
• Candidates must be eligible to work in US without restriction indefinitely.
