Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking an Engineering Specialist, Controls in Livonia, MI to lead root-cause analysis and tooling improvements across production lines. You will configure vision systems, manage PLC/CNC equipment, and support automation projects with hands-on engineering for downtime reduction.

The role requires 2+ years in controls engineering, a high school diploma or GED, and familiarity with Siemens/Allen-Bradley PLCs and AutoCAD. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of Controls Engineering experience (internship or coop considered).
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience with PLC/CNC, VFD, Servo, Profinet, ABB and FANUC robots is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate resources to identify root cause and validate fixes.
• Set up and maintain industrial barcode printers.
• Design and implement vision control systems; evaluate cameras and software.
• Use plant monitoring software to review cycle times and installations.
• Reprogram equipment for engineering changes and improvements.
• Update program backups for machinery and automation.
• Program new installations of automation, machinery, and robots.
• Review risk assessments and evaluate equipment safety.
• Assist in training manufacturing personnel and plant electricians.
• Read and modify electrical prints and schematics in AutoCAD.
