Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced electrical installation specialist to install, terminate and verify control systems across commercial projects. You will work with prime electrical contractors, read drawings, and ensure compliance with local codes while mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities include laying out raceways and wiring to meet standards, testing with hand tools and meters, and providing accurate retrofit estimates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of experience or a 2-year degree with 8+ years experience.
• Electrical apprenticeship or formal training in installation techniques.
• Journeyman level electrical license maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings.
• Working knowledge of local codes for controls.
• Experience in scope determination of installation materials.
• Ability to work independently and lead electricians on multiple projects.
• Leadership skills to supervise electricians on several projects.
• Eight years’ experience with controls installations preferred.
• General knowledge of HVAC controls, site prep, and peripheral equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install and checkout systems using codes, procedures, drawings, and personal analysis.
• Interface with customers to ensure confidence and satisfaction.
• Provide work direction to electricians involved in installation activities.
• Mentor and assist others as the local expert on electrical installation.
• Assist sales with electrical estimates, including retrofit projects.
• Determine and validate termination points to equipment interfaced with the system.
• Check wiring and terminations with test instruments on site.
• Complete paperwork, time sheets, expense reports and on-site documentation.
• Provide feedback to engineering and keep as-built drawings current.
• Communicate with the customer on arrival and before leaving the site.
• Adhere to Johnson Controls safety programs and policies.
