Job summary

RJI Search partners with a growing Houston-based company seeking a hands-on Controller/VP of Finance to lead core accounting operations and drive planning and analysis. You will own month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.

You will oversee treasury, tax compliance, and reporting infrastructure, providing actionable insights to leadership. Requires 10+ years in finance, Big 4 preferred, strong US GAAP knowledge, and exceptional communication.

Qualifications

Compensation: $125,000 – $160,000 base salary + bonus

Overview

We are partnering with a growing company, as the organization continues to scale, they are seeking a hands-on Controller/ VP of Finance to lead core accounting operations while also driving financial planning and analysis. MUST have experience with small companies/teams and must be very hands-on!

This role will serve as a key financial leader within the organization, responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, building scalable processes, and providing actionable insights to support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting and finance activities, including month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Oversee treasury, banking relationships, working capital, AP/AR, payroll, and tax compliance.
• Develop and improve financial processes, controls, systems, and reporting infrastructure to support continued growth.
• Provide management with timely financial analysis, KPIs, and insights to support business decisions.
• Partner with the CEO and leadership team on financial planning, strategic initiatives, and capital allocation.
• Manage and develop the finance/accounting team and external advisors.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of finance and accounting experience, with a strong accounting foundation.
• Prior experience in a Controller, VP Finance, or similar senior finance role.
• Big 4 or public accounting experience preferred.
• Experience managing accounting and finance for a small or mid-sized, growing company.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
• Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks), Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership.
• Fluent Spanish is a plus
