Job summary

Qualifications

Our client, an Orlando-based, growing multi-location organization, is seeking an experienced Controller to join its leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys leading people, improving processes, and helping build a finance function that can support continued growth.

The Controller will have broad responsibility for financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls, compliance, audit and tax coordination, systems and process improvement, and leadership of the accounting team. Working closely with senior leadership, this individual will play a key role in strengthening the organization’s financial infrastructure and supporting its continued expansion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the preparation and review of monthly financial statements and management reporting
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting records and the chart of accounts
• Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures and internal controls
• Lead, mentor and develop members of the accounting team
• Manage the annual financial audit and coordinate tax and regulatory reporting requirements
• Partner with senior leadership on financial reporting and operational initiatives
• Evaluate and improve accounting processes, systems and workflows
• Oversee ERP and related financial systems and support future enhancements
• Develop standardized accounting processes and reporting across multiple locations
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and timeliness throughout the accounting function
• Support financial information requests from operational leadership and senior management
• Help ensure the finance organization remains scalable as the company continues to grow

Qualifications:

• 7–12 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3–5 years in a Controller, Assistant Controller or similar leadership role
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles and financial reporting
• Proven experience leading and developing an accounting team
• Experience with ERP systems, including implementation, enhancement or customization
• Ability to design, improve and document accounting processes and procedures
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a growing environment
• Experience within a multi-location or regulated organization preferred
• Private equity-backed company experience is a plus
• Education industry experience is also a plus
