Grow Early Learning Corp in Raleigh, NC, seeks an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations in-office. The role ensures accurate financial records, timely reporting, and strong internal controls while complying with GAAP and federal grant requirements.

The ideal candidate has a accounting background with nonprofit/grant experience and supervisory leadership to guide a team through the monthly close, audits, and grant administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field and seven years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Three years of supervisory experience and knowledge of federal grant requirements.
• Preferred: Master’s degree and nonprofit accounting experience with Head Start programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and annual financial close.
• Ensure accurate, timely financial records and reporting.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Maintain chart of accounts and consistent accounting practices.
• Monitor internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance for grants.
• Oversee cash management processes and banking activities.
• Coordinate accounts payable, receivable, and payroll accounting.
• Support grant, subrecipient monitoring and related reports.
• Coordinate audits, inventory, and special projects.
• Supervise and develop staff; conduct evaluations.
