Job summary

The North Carolina Partnership For Children Inc is seeking a collaborative Controller to lead complex nonprofit accounting operations, drive continuous improvement, and present financial results to leadership and the NCPC Board. The role focuses on strong internal controls, audit readiness, and system improvements while mentoring accounting staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA/MBA strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience with GL ownership and staff supervision.
• Hands-on experience with nonprofit/fund accounting systems (MIP Fund Accounting, Abila/Momentive, Microix).

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day controllership accounting functions to ensure accuracy of financial records and reporting, incl. month-end and year-end processes.
• Lead and direct daily accounting operations; maintain GL, COA, fund structure, reconciliations, and records.
• Strengthen audit readiness, internal controls, documentation, and compliance with nonprofit, grant-funded, state and federal reporting requirements.
• Oversee banking, cash management, ACH, AP, payroll accounting, and related transaction-cycle controls.
• Serve as operational owner for MIP Fund Accounting and related systems including reporting and access controls.
• Supervise and coach accounting staff; build sustainable procedures and quality-control routines.
• Partner with CFO to improve financial reporting, streamline processes, and reduce key-person dependencies.
