Job summary

Moana Nursery LLC in Reno, NV is seeking a seasoned Controller to manage the company’s accounting operations, including payroll, AP/AR, and month-end close. You will maintain GAAP compliance, oversee internal controls, and provide timely financial reporting to management.

The role requires leading a small accounting team across multiple ERP systems and Paylocity, driving process improvements and accurate cost reporting for projects and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; 6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, audits, reconciliations, and close processes.
• Experience with payroll, accounts payable/receivable, inventory accounting, job costing, fixed assets, sales/use tax, intercompany transactions, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven leadership to supervise and develop staff, manage priorities, and collaborate with management.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft 365, and accounting systems; strong analytical and communication skills; confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Oversee payroll operations, including prevailing wage, certified payroll, reconciliations, benefits processing, and workers' compensation accruals.
• Manage accounts payable and monitor receivables and collections to maintain aging targets.
• Direct month-end and year-end close processes and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
• Oversee job costing, project profitability, inventory valuation, and intercompany transactions.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and ensure accurate cost reporting.
• Coordinate financial audits and ensure GAAP compliance across regulations.
• Prepare and distribute financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
• Analyze financial results, margins, variances, and trends; provide recommendations to leadership.
