Job summary

Plug needs a Staff-level Controller to build out our accounting function. We currently run QuickBooks Online with an outsourced accounting team. You'll own the close, run our first financial statement audit day-to-day, and move work from the outsourced team to in-house or automated processes. You'll report to the VP, Finance.

This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports for now. Our accounting is operational. We buy, consign, and auction vehicles.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including owning a multi-entity close end-to-end at a high-growth company.
• Strong US GAAP knowledge, including ASC 606, inventory accounting, and multi-entity consolidation.
• You've led a first audit day-to-day or run an audit end-to-end.
• Lender reporting experience, including borrowing bases and covenant compliance.
• Funds-flow or treasury experience, ideally at a company that holds or moves customer funds.
• You're comfortable with data and use AI in your own work.
• Clear writing. Your memos and schedules are easy for an auditor or lender to follow.

Responsibilities

• Close the monthly GAAP close across Plug Technologies and its dealer subsidiary, including intercompany and consolidation.
• Inventory and revenue recognition under ASC 606; determine if Plug is principal or agent for each transaction type.
• Manage funds in transit, reconciling consumer payouts, lienholder payoffs, titles and escrow balances, and dealer settlements.
• Prepare monthly borrowing base certificates, covenant calculations, and supporting schedules for the lender.
• Oversee treasury tasks: AP, corporate card, expense policy, cash positioning, and short-term forecasting; approve payments.
• Run the first day-to-day audit and write technical accounting memos; support Series B data room and diligence.
• Coordinate tax work with outside providers for sales/use tax, 1099s, and entity filings; oversee outsourced close work.
