Job summary

Augment is seeking a Controller to build and run the accounting function as the first in-house finance hire. You will own month-end close, financial operations, and prepare for the first annual audit while transitioning from an external firm.

You will work closely with the Head of Finance and cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, People, and Engineering. The role requires hands-on ownership and an aptitude for scaling processes as the company grows.

Qualifications

CPA or CPA-eligible with a degree in accounting or finance.
7+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on ownership of a close at a venture-backed company.
Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition and stock-based compensation.
Big 4 audit background and startup/tech experience preferred.
Ability to move quickly and document decisions when information is imperfect.

Responsibilities

Own the month-end close end-to-end with a calendar, checklists, reconciliations, and controls.
Oversee the transition from external firm to in-house close.
Prepare financial statements and management reports for leadership and board.
Own revenue recognition for subscription, usage-based, and professional services contracts.
Lead the first annual audit: select firm, build PBC list, close items before fieldwork.
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing reconciliation, and cash management.
Handle accruals, prepaid expenses, vendor commitments, and intercompany transactions.
Coordinate with tax advisors on sales and income tax and prepare schedules.
