Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Controller in San Francisco to build an internal accounting function from ground zero. The role reports to Head of Finance and leads a transition from external advisory to in-house finance operations, including adopting an AI-native ERP system.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in accounting leadership, a CPA, and deep ASC 606 expertise to manage SaaS revenue and complex contracts. Hybrid work schedule with on-site presence in SF.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting leadership (Controller, Assistant Controller, or Sr. Accounting Manager) in high-growth tech.
• Active CPA required, with foundational Big 4 audit experience.
• Deep mastery of ASC 606 revenue recognition for subscription and consumption-based models.
• Proven track record leading ERP implementations, owning the close, and managing external audits.
• Tech-forward, AI/automation-oriented approach to optimize workflows.

Responsibilities

• Direct monthly and quarterly close cycles, variance reporting, financial statement prep, and core accounting operations (AP, AR, payroll, treasury).
• Oversee ASC 606 revenue policies for SaaS subscriptions and usage-based contracts.
• Craft technical memos and positions across equity, software capitalization, leases, and complex enterprise deals.
• Lead the implementation of an AI-native ERP system and manage cloud/compute expenditure accounting.
• Manage corporate tax filings, state registrations, and R&D credits, preparing for the inaugural external audit.
