Job summary

AscendHire in New York, NY, is representing a rapidly growing public company seeking a seasoned Controller to build and scale the accounting infrastructure. You will own SEC reporting, SOX/compliance, acquisitions, consolidation, and systems, with direct CFO exposure and high-impact influence.

The role requires a CPA, 10+ years in public-company accounting, and strong US GAAP expertise. Base salary ranges from $190K to $220K, plus RSUs, and an in-office NYC work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Active CPA license.
• 10+ years of progressive public-company accounting experience.
• Hands-on SEC reporting including 10-K & 10-Q.
• SOX 404/404(b) external auditor attestation experience.
• Strong US GAAP and technical accounting expertise.
• Multi-entity consolidation and foreign currency experience.
• Experience managing external audit relationships.
• ERP/financial reporting systems proficiency.
• Advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close, consolidation, intercompany accounting, and financial reporting.
• Prepare and review consolidated financial statements, disclosures, and supporting documentation.
• Partner with the CFO on 10-Ks, 10-Qs, and registration statements.
• Research and document complex technical accounting matters.
• Lead accounting integration for acquisitions and due diligence and opening balance sheets.
• Own the SOX 404/404(b) internal control environment.
• Serve as primary accounting contact for external auditors and coordinate with tax, valuation, SOX, and other advisors.
• Evaluate and enhance accounting systems, processes, automation, and reporting capabilities.
• Build, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
