Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; MBA preferred.
• Active CPA certification is required; strong GAAP knowledge.
• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including policy, technical accounting or external reporting; 5+ years leading teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical accounting and policy activities involving complex transactions, revenue recognition, leases, valuations, impairments, derivatives, foreign currency, and business combinations.
• Lead and develop business controllers with accounting guidance and oversight across key functions.
• Research and interpret US GAAP and SEC requirements; oversee implementation of new standards.
• Oversee financial reporting controls, identify control issues, and coordinate remediation with internal/external audits.
• Provide executive advisory on policies, significant transactions, and complex accounting conclusions.

Atlantic Group is hiring a Controller (Accounting) in New Castle County, DE for our client, leading technical accounting, accounting policy, business controllership, financial reporting, and internal controls within a complex corporate environment. This senior leadership role will provide accounting guidance on complex transactions, SEC reporting, US GAAP, regulatory developments, and financial reporting requirements while advising executive leadership and partnering across finance, tax, treasury, legal, and other corporate functions. The ideal candidate will bring extensive public and/or corporate accounting experience, including a strong background in technical accounting, accounting policy, or external reporting, along with proven team leadership experience.

Responsibilities as the Controller (Accounting):

• Accounting Policy: Lead technical accounting and policy activities involving complex transactions, revenue recognition, leases, valuations, impairments, derivatives, foreign currency, and business combinations.
• Business Controllership: Lead and develop business controllers while providing accounting guidance, oversight, and support across key business functions.
• Technical Accounting: Research and interpret US GAAP, SEC requirements, and emerging accounting guidance and oversee implementation of new accounting standards.
• Internal Controls: Oversee financial reporting controls, identify control matters, and coordinate remediation and compliance activities with internal and external audit teams.
• Executive Advisory: Provide senior leadership with clear guidance on accounting policies, significant transactions, financial reporting developments, and complex accounting conclusions.

Qualifications for the Controller (Accounting):

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required, and an MBA is strongly preferred.
• Certification:Active CPA required.
• Experience:12+ years of progressive public and/or corporate accounting experience, including accounting policy, technical accounting, or external reporting, with a minimum of 5 years of team leadership experience required.
• Industry Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting, accounting policy, technical accounting, internal controls, and complex financial reporting matters is required.
• Technical Skills: Strong technical accounting research, financial reporting, and accounting systems proficiency is required.
• Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, analytical, project management, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, develop teams, and communicate complex accounting matters effectively across all levels of an organization.
