Job summary

Atlantic Group is seeking a Controller in Stamford, CT to lead accounting operations for a growing multi-entity organization. You will oversee month-end close, consolidated financial statements, acquisition accounting, and the development of scalable financial infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, is a CPA, and has deep US GAAP knowledge, ERP proficiency, and strong leadership to build cross-functional partnerships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Active CPA required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership in multi-entity environments.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, consolidations, acquisition accounting, month-end close, and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel and ERP system experience; financial systems implementation and process improvement preferred.
• Proven leadership, analytics, communication, problem-solving, project management, and cross-functional partnership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting operations, policies, procedures, internal controls, and recurring close activities.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, consolidated financial reporting, account reconciliations, audits, and management reporting.
• Support acquisition accounting, financial integration, and reporting related to growth and transactions.
• Oversee accounting across multiple entities ensuring accurate reporting and US GAAP compliance.
• Improve accounting systems, reporting, automation, and processes to enable scalable operations.
• Lead and develop accounting professionals and partner with senior leadership on reporting, controls, and financial decision-making.

Job Overview – Controller

Compensation: $175,000–$225,000/year + bonus

Location: Stamford, CT

Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)

Atlantic Group is hiring a Controller in Stamford, CT for our client, leading accounting operations, financial reporting, consolidations, and financial systems for a growing multi-entity organization. The Controller will oversee month-end close, consolidated financial statements, acquisition accounting and integration, internal controls, and accounting process improvements while developing scalable financial infrastructure to support continued growth. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, an active CPA, and strong expertise in multi-entity accounting, US GAAP, financial reporting, M&A integration, ERP systems, and accounting leadership.

Responsibilities as the Controller:

• Accounting Leadership: Lead accounting operations, policies, procedures, internal controls, and recurring close activities while strengthening the overall accounting function.
• Financial Reporting: Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, consolidated financial reporting, account reconciliations, audits, and management reporting.
• Acquisition Accounting: Support acquisition accounting, financial integration, and reporting activities related to business growth and transactions.
• Multi-Entity Accounting: Oversee accounting and consolidations across multiple entities while ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with US GAAP.
• Systems & Process Improvement: Improve accounting systems, reporting, automation, and financial processes to support efficient and scalable operations.
• Team Development: Lead and develop accounting professionals while partnering with senior leadership to strengthen reporting, controls, and financial decision-making.

Qualifications for the Controller:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Certification: Active CPA is required.
• Experience: 10+ years of progressive accounting experience is required, including accounting leadership within a multi-entity or complex corporate environment.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, consolidations, acquisition accounting, month-end close, and internal controls is required.
• Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel and ERP system experience are required, with financial systems implementation and process improvement experience preferred.
• Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, analytical, communication, problem-solving, project management, process improvement, and cross-functional business partnership skills are required.
