Job summary

Truity Partners in Green Bay, WI seeks an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function with a hands-on, technical approach and strong cross-functional partnership with sales and operations.

The role requires a BA in accounting or finance and 10+ years of progressive experience, GAAP expertise, and a proven ability to drive close processes, internal controls, and strategic financial insight.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Strong hands-on accounting background with experience across general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close.
  • Previous accounting leadership or management experience with a demonstrated ability to develop and support a team.
  • Strong technical accounting foundation and understanding of GAAP.
  • Experience partnering with sales, operations, and other non-finance functions strongly preferred.
  • Ability to understand business performance beyond the accounting function and provide useful financial insight to leadership.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to establish credibility throughout the organization.
  • Hands-on leadership style with the willingness to work within the details while maintaining oversight of the broader accounting function.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Collaborative, accountable, and proactive with a strong sense of ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of the organization's day-to-day accounting activities.
  • Lead the monthly and annual close processes and ensure financial information is complete, accurate, and timely.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and other supporting accounting schedules.
  • Oversee general ledger accounting and maintain the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reporting, and related analysis.
  • Partner with sales and operations leaders to understand business performance and provide meaningful financial insight.
  • Analyze revenue, margins, expenses, and other key business drivers to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and other financial planning activities.
  • Translate accounting and financial information into practical recommendations for non-finance business partners.
  • Maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate year-end audit activities and respond to requests from external partners.
  • Lead, coach, and develop members of the accounting team while establishing clear priorities and accountability.
  • Remain actively involved in accounting activities and provide hands-on support when needed.
  • Collaborate across departments to resolve accounting questions and improve the flow of financial information.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, reporting, systems, and overall efficiency.
  • Support special projects and broader business initiatives as organizational needs evolve.

Job description

Our client is an organization in the Green Bay area looking for a Controller. Our client is looking for an experienced accounting leader who brings a strong technical foundation, a hands-on approach, and the ability to partner effectively across the business. This individual will provide leadership to the accounting function while working closely with sales, operations, and other business leaders to support financial performance and decision-making.

The salary range for this position is $130k–150k.

The Controller will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
