Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Five to seven years of accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting operations including AP, AR, inventory, payroll, taxes, and auditing.
  • Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and SOX-compliant controls.
  • Provide management with timely financial reporting and analyses for decision making.
  • Lead ERP implementation efforts including redesign, data migration, UAT, and post-implementation optimization.
  • Develop and enforce policies to improve reporting, efficiency, and data integrity.
  • Support consolidation of new business units and entities as the organization grows.
  • Partner with manufacturing leadership and maintain active facility presence.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop accounting staff to build a high-performing team.

Job description

Unified Talent Group is partnered with a well-established manufacturing organization seeking a hands-on Corporate Controller in Westbury NY, to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and financial systems improvement. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, this position will provide accurate and timely financial information that enables leaders across the organization to make informed business decisions.

The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic problem solver and experienced leader who embraces challenges, develops high-performing teams, and views Finance as an integral part of operations. This role requires a strong manufacturing and cost-accounting background, publicly traded company experience, and the ability to support continued organizational growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, production accounting, billing, collections, payroll, banking, income taxes, and auditing
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial information in accordance with GAAP, SEC, SOX, governmental, and organizational requirements
  • Provide managers and executives with clear financial reporting and analysis to support timely business decisions
  • Standardize and improve legacy financial reports to create a more efficient and scalable reporting process
  • Lead financial aspects of an ERP implementation, including process redesign, data migration, user acceptance testing, internal control integration, and post-implementation optimization
  • Develop and implement systems, policies, and procedures that improve financial reporting, operational efficiency, data integrity, and transaction processing
  • Review accounting processes and internal controls to ensure they remain current, risk-focused, SOX compliant, and consistently followed
  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate financial processes and systems
  • Support the financial consolidation of new business units and legal entities as the organization grows
  • Partner with manufacturing leadership and maintain an active presence at operating facilities
  • Develop operating budgets, financial forecasts, cost analyses, and other management reporting
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop accounting employees while building a high-performing team
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and timely processing
  • Travel domestically approximately 20% to support manufacturing operations and organizational initiatives
TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Strong managerial and cost-accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, payroll, income tax, banking, budgeting, and financial reporting
  • Experience establishing, maintaining, and evaluating internal controls
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance requirements
  • Experience with ERP implementations, financial systems, process improvement, and automation
  • Strong organizational, analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to assess situations quickly and make sound decisions with limited information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across the organization
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure
  • Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets, and word-processing applications; Oracle experience preferred
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Five to seven years of accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working for a publicly traded company
  • Experience with SEC reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, and financial controls
  • Previous leadership experience managing and developing accounting professionals
