Job description

Continental Flooring Company is a successful family-owned, Arizona-based contractor specializing in nationwide flooring and ceiling tile services, primarily for government and institutional clients. For more than 45 years, we have built a reputation for reliability, integrity, and long-term relationships — both with our customers and our employees.

Many members of our leadership team have been with the company for decades. As several senior professionals prepare for retirement in the coming years, we are intentionally investing in the next generation of financial and operational leadership who want to grow with the company and take on increasing responsibility over time.

We offer a professional yet close-knit environment where mentorship, accountability, and collaboration define our culture. Our success has always been rooted in the quality, commitment, and growth of our people.

We may not build the next generation of self-driving cars or cure cancer, but everybody needs flooring! As one of the strongest in our field of expertise, our company offers a high-quality work environment with skilled mentors who know the industry and use a “work-with” rather than “work-for” style.

If you have approximately 5–15 years of professional accounting experience, are detail-oriented, systems-minded, and motivated to grow into a senior leadership role, we would like to hear from you.

About the Role

The Controller will serve as a key member of the accounting team, working closely as the right hand to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This role will have broad responsibility across the enterprise and meaningful visibility into the financial operations of the entire company.

A major near‑term focus of this position will be hands‑on participation in a company‑wide NetSuite ERP implementation, scheduled to begin shortly. The Controller will play an important role in shaping accounting processes, controls, and reporting within the new system.

As trust, experience, and system familiarity grow, this role is expected to take on increasing leadership responsibility, including deeper involvement in financial planning, strategic analysis, and enterprise‑wide decision support. For the right individual, this position is intended to serve as a developmental step toward senior financial leadership, with long‑term potential to evolve into a future CFO or equivalent role.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Approximately 5–15 years of professional accounting experience
  • CPA is preferred, but not required
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting and reporting fundamentals
  • ERP experience (NetSuite exposure a strong plus, but not required)
  • A demonstrated desire to grow beyond transactional accounting into broader financial leadership
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and follow‑through skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in‑office Monday–Friday and collaborate closely with leadership
Responsibilities
  • Support monthly and annual financial close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Perform and review bank reconciliations, investment reconciliations, and general ledger activity
  • Manage and reconcile inventory accounts, including cost tracking and adjustments
  • Assist with budget development, budget controls, and variance analysis
  • Work closely with the CFO on financial analysis, reporting, and internal controls
  • Play an active role in the NetSuite implementation, including system setup, testing, data validation, and process improvement
  • Gain exposure to broader financial planning, capital management, and executive‑level reporting over time
  • Support audit, tax, and external accounting relationships as needed
  • Responsibilities always subject to change
  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • Paid vacation and holidays
  • Long‑term growth and leadership advancement opportunities

Please note: As a federal contractor, Continental Flooring Company complies with federal drug‑testing requirements as a condition of employment.
