Job summary

KBW Financial Staffing and Recruiting has partnered with a growing, privately held company seeking a hands-on Controller to join its leadership team and help build the next phase of its accounting function.

This role is ideal for an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or early-career Controller who wants more ownership and the opportunity to build rather than merely maintain a large department.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and full-cycle accounting experience.
• QuickBooks Online experience.
• Strong systems aptitude and interest in improving how accounting operates.
• Process-oriented and comfortable identifying problems and building solutions.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Comfortable working in a smaller, growing company where you\'ll need to roll up your sleeves.
• CPA preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close process and close calendar.
• Develop scalable accounting processes and reporting.
• Improve accounting systems and automate where possible.
• Collaborate with leadership on financial planning and reporting.
• Mentor junior staff as the function grows.
• Drive effectiveness of internal controls and compliance.

Compensation

Competitive salary, plus BCBS of RI and a 401(k) with company match.
