  • Experience in multi-entity, private equity-backed environments.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Lead accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and month-end close.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting across multiple entities.
  • Develop, standardize, and implement accounting policies, internal controls, reporting procedures, and financial governance across the portfolio.
  • Lead and mentor accounting managers while helping build a scalable finance organization to support growth.
  • Partner with business leaders to provide timely, accurate financial information and improve operational decision-making.
  • Coordinate external audits, tax reporting, lender reporting, insurance renewals, and other compliance requirements.
  • Support acquisitions through financial due diligence, accounting integration, and standardized reporting processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, leverage technology, and automate manual workflows.
  • Drive continuous improvements to shorten close timelines and improve financial reporting accuracy.

KBW Financial Staffing and Recruiting has partnered with a well-established private investment and portfolio management organization who is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting function across a growing portfolio of businesses. Supporting a diverse portfolio of businesses throughout New England, this organization works closely with operating companies to strengthen financial performance, improve reporting, standardize accounting practices, and support continued acquisition-driven growth.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to executive leadership, the Corporate Controller will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, consolidations, compliance, and internal controls across multiple entities. This individual will lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals while partnering with business leaders to improve financial processes, strengthen governance, and integrate newly acquired companies.

This role offers significant visibility across the organization and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both day-to-day operations and long-term strategic initiatives.

  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and month‑end close.

  • Develop, standardize, and implement accounting policies, internal controls, reporting procedures, and financial governance across the portfolio.
  • Lead and mentor accounting managers while helping build a scalable finance organization to support continued growth.
  • Partner with business leaders to provide timely, accurate financial information and improve operational decision‑making.
  • Coordinate external audits, tax reporting, lender reporting, insurance renewals, and other compliance requirements.
  • Support acquisitions through financial due diligence, accounting integration, and implementation of standardized reporting processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, leverage technology, and automate manual workflows.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience with leadership responsibility.
  • Prior experience as a Controller, Corporate Controller, Assistant Controller, Director of Accounting, or similar role.
  • Experience within multi‑entity, holding company, private equity‑backed, or portfolio company environments.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial statement preparation, consolidations, and internal controls.
  • Experience implementing accounting policies, finance processes, ERP improvements, and reporting standardization.
  • Exposure to acquisitions, post‑acquisition integration, and finance transformation initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and business partnering skills.
