Job summary

XRHealth, a Boston-based digital health company, seeks a Controller to own multi-entity monthly closes and consolidate books with the outsourced firm. You will lead three staff accountants, oversee stock compensation via Carta, and maintain strong internal controls.

The role requires US GAAP expertise, CPA preferred, and 7+ years of accounting experience in multi-entity environments. This is a full-time, on-site position based near Needham Heights, MA.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Why this role exists

This role owns the monthly close for XRHealth and its multiple entity structure. You will manage 3 staff accountants, each responsible for their respective entities, and you will be the point of contact for our outsourced accounting firm, which consolidates the entities and files our corporate returns.

What You'll Own

• Close and accuracy. Run one close calendar. Review and approve every reconciliation, accrual, and journal entry prepared by the accountants before the books are considered final.
• Outsourced accounting relationship. Deliver clean, complete, and consistent entity books each month with supporting schedules and intercompany activity. Answer review questions and resolve adjustments so consolidation is efficient.
• Cash and payment controls. Act as second reviewer on outgoing payments, Ramp bill runs, and bank transfers, with the VP, Finance as final approver. Report a weekly cash position and rolling 13-week forecast.
• Carta. Own Carta for stock compensation: keep the cap table reconciled to the books, record option grants, exercises, and cancellations, and prepare stock compensation expense and the supporting schedules.
• Policy and consistency. Own the chart of accounts, revenue and expense recognition policies, close checklists, and accounting memos.
• Internal controls. Set approval thresholds, keep duties segregated between preparer and approver, and manage user access for banks, Ramp, and the general ledger.
• Compliance oversight. Maintain the state registration and filing calendars. Review the tax packages sent to the outside firm.
• Reporting. Deliver monthly financials with variance commentary, plus payroll cost and headcount reporting reviewed for accuracy.
• The team. Hire, train, and develop accountants. Set expectations, review their work, and cover their respective duties during absences or gaps.
• Ad hoc support. Audit, insurance renewal, lender, and investor requests, and finance input on new systems and vendors.

What You'll Need

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. CPA strongly preferred.
• Seven or more years of accounting experience, including at least two years reviewing or supervising the work of others.
• Hands-on multi-entity month-end close and consolidation support experience under US GAAP.
• Working knowledge of Ramp, Rippling, and a mid-market general ledger, with the confidence to own system configuration.
• Multi-state compliance exposure, including registrations, annual reports, and state payroll accounts.
• Healthcare, medical device, or clinical services experience is a plus, as is working alongside an outsourced accounting firm.
