Precision Recruiting Solutions Group is seeking a hands-on Controller for a small manufacturing environment in Rochester, NY. You will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance while partnering with leadership to drive business decisions.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong GAAP and cost accounting knowledge, ERP proficiency, and excellent Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial reporting.
• Experience with ERP and accounting systems; advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting functions (AP, AR, GL, bank reconciliations).
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Maintain cost accounting, inventory valuation, and job costing.
• Oversee payroll and regulatory compliance.
• Manage sales tax, property tax, and other filings.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and KPI reporting.
• Coordinate year-end activities with auditors and tax advisors.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes.
• Provide financial analysis and leadership decision support.
• Maintain ERP and accounting data integrity.

The Controller is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance while providing financial insight to support business decision-making. This role is well-suited for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a small manufacturing environment and enjoys improving processes, building structure, and partnering with leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Maintain cost accounting processes, inventory valuation, and job costing.
• Oversee payroll and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Manage sales tax, property tax, and other required filings.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and KPI reporting.
• Coordinate year-end activities with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes.
• Provide financial analysis and decision support to leadership.
• Maintain the integrity of ERP and accounting system data.
