Beaver Run Resort & Conference Center in Breckenridge, CO seeks a Controller to oversee daily accounting operations, including GL, AP, AR, payroll, and revenue accounting. The role leads month-end close, audits, and fixed-asset accounting while ensuring GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.

On-premises, year-round, with transitional housing available. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in resort or hospitality finance, along with proficiency in NetSuite and Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field – required.
• CPA or CMA designation or candidate - preferred.
• 3+ years progressive supervisory/leadership experience - required.
• 10+ years of progressive financial management experience – required.
• 3+ years in a resort, HOA, hospitality environment or multi-department operating experience – preferred.
• Deep understanding of HOA accounting standards, including fund accounting and reserve study planning - required.
• Proficiency with accounting software (NetSuite, Profitsword, Inventory Systems, PM or similar) – required.
• Experience with hospitality PMS systems, such as Springer-Miller – preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills - required.
• Proficient in English - written and spoken – required.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

The Controller oversees the resort’s day-to-day accounting operations, supporting exceptional guest experiences through accurate, timely, and well-controlled financial processes. The role leads GL, AP, AR, Payroll, Revenue accounting, month-end close, and annual audit activities, and is responsible for CAMM and fixed-asset accounting, statutory compliance, balance sheet reconciliations, and systems implementations and integrations. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes, along with strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. As a collaborative hospitality leader, the Controller partners with departments across the resort to translate financial information into clear, actionable guidance, communicate effectively throughout the organization, manage multiple priorities, lead through change, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Full-time, year-round position with benefits eligibility. This position is located on premises in Breckenridge, CO. Transitional housing may be available.

Position starts at $110,000 - $140,000 annual salary DOE

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Performance manage 4-5direct reports
• Set goals and expectations
• Provide feedback and identify strengths/weaknesses
• Create improvement plans and implement corrective action as necessary
• Train, develop and mentor finance & accounting team
• Review and approve timecards, time off requests, etc.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and guidelines

Duties/Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly financial close, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and balance sheet reviews.
• Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, group and wholesale accounts receivable, daily revenue and cashiering, and accounts payable.
• Manage owner and rental program accounting, ensuring accurate and timely accounting, owner statement generation, reconciliations, and related financial activity.
• Oversee payroll processing and payroll accounting, including reconciliations, labor allocations, accruals, payroll tax support, and coordination with Human Resources and payroll providers, while maintaining strict confidentiality of employee and compensation information.
• Manage accounts payable, include vendor management, invoice processing, payment approvals, expense coding, corporate card administration, employee expenses, and compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
• Monitor cash and treasury controls, including bank account activity, cash management, payment controls, bank reconciliations, and appropriate segregation of duties.
• Lead procure-to-pay and other accounting automation initiatives, including workflow design, process documentation, vendor onboarding, employee training, system integration, and ongoing process improvement.
• Manage inventory accounting and related reconciliations, including coordination of accurate inventory accounting data and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate multi-entity and intercompany accounting, including intercompany transactions, reconciliations, eliminations, and appropriate accounting across entities.
• Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements, including sales and use tax, business licenses, personal property tax filings, and other state and local requirements.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation, internal control reviews, and implementation of audit recommendations.
• Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and support compliance with GAAP and company standards.
• Optimize integrations and accounting processes between NetSuite and other business systems, identifying opportunities to improve automation, accuracy, and efficiency.
