Job summary

Ascape Landscape and Construction is seeking an experienced Controller to join our team in New York. The role directs financial statements, analytics, compliance, and controls to optimize results and support strategic decisions.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP/FASB.
• Experience managing internal payroll operations.

Responsibilities

• Directing the preparation of financial statements and financial analysis.
• Managing compliance with local, state, and federal reporting, internal controls and tax filings.
• Creating reports to identify opportunities to improve financial results or address risk.
• Developing systems to improve division and company results.
• Leading, coaching and developing the accounting team.

We offer a compensation package with significant earning potential and career growth opportunities. This includes an annual salary of $110,000-$120,000/annually commensurate with experience, with opportunity for growth. The following education, skills and experience are required for the Controller role:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, managerial finance, business administration or related field;
• 5+ years of experience in finance or accounting positions, including 3+ years of experience managing accounting staff;
• In-depth experience and knowledge of accounting principles/theories (GAAP, FASB);
• Demonstrated experience managing internal payroll operations;
• High Proficiency with MS Office and job costing technologies;
• Knowledge and experience with integrated accounting systems.

Responsibilities for our Controller include, but are not limited to:

• Directing the preparation of financial statements and the financial analysis of the organization;
• Managing compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements, internal controls and tax filings;
• Creating and analyzing reports to identify opportunities to improve financial results or address potential risk to the organization;
• Developing systems and processes to improve division and company results;
• Leading, coaching and developing the accounting team members;
• Serving as a collaborative and strategic member of the leadership team;
• Other duties as assigned.
