Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory guidelines.
• Lead, manage, and develop the accounting team with clear direction and support.
• Ensure all accounts, claims, rebates, credits, and reconciliations are current and accurate.
• Review financial statements and operating controls to identify trends and opportunities to improve profitability.
• Partner with executives to provide meaningful financial analysis to support business decisions.
• Oversee general ledger activity and account reconciliations; investigate discrepancies.
• Support annual budgets, forecasts, and other financial planning initiatives.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure procedures are followed across the organization.
• Oversee cash management and provide recommendations on cash flow and resource use.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations, including tax filings and payroll.
• Manage and optimize accounting and ERP systems to improve reporting, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and strengthen department performance.
• Participate in management meetings as a trusted financial resource.
• Travel regionally as needed.

A growing, multi-location organization is seeking anexperienced Controller to lead its accounting function and provide strategic financial insight to executive leadership. This position will oversee financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls, and a team of accounting professionals while partnering closely with management to support profitability and operational performance. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader and strong people manager who can develop a team, improve processes, ensure accuracy, and effectively communicate financial information across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop the accounting team, providing clear direction, accountability, training, and ongoing support.
• Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly financial statements in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.
• Ensure all accounts, claims, rebates, credits, and reconciliations are current and accurate.
• Review and interpret financial statements and daily operating controls, identifying trends, discrepancies, and opportunities to improve profitability.
• Partner with executive leadership and department managers to provide meaningful financial analysis and support business decisions.
• Oversee general ledger activity and account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Support the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and other financial planning initiatives.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure accounting procedures are consistently followed across the organization.
• Oversee cash management and provide recommendations regarding cash flow and the effective use of company resources.
• Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations and requirements, including tax filings, payroll, and retirement plans.
• Manage and optimize accounting and ERP systems to improve reporting, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and strengthen overall department performance.
• Participate in management meetings and serve as a trusted financial resource to leadership.
• Travel regionally as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• CPA or CMA preferred but not required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including Controller or comparable leadership responsibilities.
• Demonstrated experience managing, developing, and holding an accounting team accountable.
• Experience within a multi-location, multi-entity, or similarly complex organization preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and the ability to quickly learn new technology.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and with executive leadership.

Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role. Additional flexibility may be considered for a highly experienced Controller.
