Job summary

Sanford Barrows Group in Connecticut seeks a Controller to oversee accounting and financial operations, ensure accurate reporting, maintain internal controls, and support management with financial analysis.

The role manages general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, audits, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and compliance with GAAP. CPA preferred but not required; strong Excel and accounting software skills required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• CPA designation preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting functions: GL, AP, AR, payroll, cash management.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes.
• Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with policies.
• Coordinate annual audits with external accountants and tax advisors.
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
• Analyze results and provide recommendations to improve profitability and efficiency.
• Ensure timely filing of tax and regulatory requirements.
