Job summary

The HT Group is seeking a hands-on Controller (Business Unit) in Austin, TX to oversee accounting and financial operations within a newly acquired subsidiary. You will lead monthly closes, manage POC and WIP accounting, and implement Sage Intacct for the acquired entity, partnering with operational leadership on financial performance.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong technical accounting foundations, and CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience including leadership.
• Strong understanding of POC, ASC 606, and WIP accounting.
• Sage Intacct cloud ERP experience and prior software implementation leadership.
• CPA or related certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and financial activities across assigned entities.
• Lead the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate reporting.

• Lead the Sage Intacct implementation for the acquired entity.

About the Opportunity

The HT Group has partnered with a growing, PE-backed services platform in the search for an experienced, hands-on Controller to oversee accounting and financial operations within a newly-acquired subsidiary. This position will be responsible for financial reporting, month-end close, project accounting, and the development of accounting personnel while partnering closely with operational leadership.

The ideal candidate brings a strong technical accounting foundation, proven leadership capabilities, and significant experience with percentage-of-completion (POC) and work-in-progress (WIP) accounting. This is an opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership of accounting processes and supporting business operations in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and financial activities across assigned business entities or operations.


• Lead the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.


• Manage percentage-of-completion (POC) and work-in-progress (WIP) accounting in accordance with applicable accounting standards.


• Lead the implementation of Sage Intacct accounting software for the aquired entity.


• Partner with operational leadership on financial performance, reporting, and business decisions.


• Oversee billing activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness.


• Prepare financial forecasts, management reports, and ad hoc financial analyses.


• Coordinate and support the annual external audit process.


• Assist with tax documentation and related compliance requirements.


• Train, supervise, and develop accounting team members.


• Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting procedures, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.


• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience overseeing accounting functions or personnel.


• Strong understanding of percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting, ASC 606, and WIP accounting.


• Sage Intacct or similar cloud-based ERP experience including previous leadership of a software implementation.


• Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP and applicable accounting regulations.


• Experience managing month-end close and preparing financial statements.


• Strong supervisory, organizational, and leadership skills.


• Proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, and problem-solving.


• Experience working with multiple accounting systems.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or other relevant professional accounting certification.


• Experience supporting external financial statement audits.


• Experience partnering directly with operational leadership on financial reporting and performance.
