Solomon Page is partnering with a highly regarded Austin consumer brand to recruit a Controller who will lead core accounting operations and actively contribute to business decisions. This role demands a hands-on leader who builds teams, improves processes, and remains deeply involved in day-to-day work.

The ideal candidate will bring strong GAAP expertise, CPA preferred, and a track record from public accounting (Big 4) with industry experience in CPG/manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Active CPA strongly preferred.
  • Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Meaningful industry experience following public accounting, ideally within CPG, retail, consumer products, manufacturing, or inventory-intensive environment.
  • Strong technical accounting and GAAP knowledge.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing accounting teams.
  • Experience owning or leading the financial close and reporting process.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, audit requirements, and accounting processes.
  • Experience with inventory and/or manufacturing accounting is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to operate in a hands-on environment and move between leadership and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to the accounting team while remaining engaged in work.
  • Partner cross-functionally with finance, operations, supply chain, and other leaders to understand business drivers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, systems, and reporting.
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, inventory accounting, cost accounting, accruals, and other areas relevant to a consumer products/manufacturing environment.
  • Support annual audits and be a key contact with external auditors.
  • Help strengthen and scale the accounting function as the organization evolves.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the business beyond financials with a commercial mindset.

We are partnering with an established, highly regarded consumer brand in Austin to identify a Controller to join its finance leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a company known for its strong culture, recognizable brand, and continued growth. The Controller will serve as a key accounting leader within the organization, overseeing core accounting operations while remaining actively involved in the details of the business. We are looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting expertise with a practical, hands-on leadership style — someone who is equally comfortable developing a team, improving processes, and rolling up their sleeves when needed. This individual should be naturally proactive, curious, and solutions-oriented, with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement rather than simply maintaining existing processes.

  • Salary for role is $190k-$225k (based on level of experience) with bonus and full benefits

Required Qualifications
