Job summary

SJE in Lakeland, Florida, is seeking a Control System Specialist II to design and support electrical control panels and PLC/HMI applications for varied projects.

The role involves traveling to customer sites, coordinating with production and project teams, and delivering testing, documentation, and technical support.

Candidates should have 5+ years in control/instrumentation, strong AutoCAD and electrical schematic skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of educational and/or work experience in the control and instrumentation field.
• Ability to assist in designing electrical equipment and components, writing, and testing new software programs as well as creating technical specifications and writing operational documentation.
• Basic computer software skills using Microsoft Office Suite, E‑Mail, Internet, AutoCAD.
• Experience with electrical schematics required.
• Demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn technical skills.
• Self‑motivated and have a proven ability to design, write and test software and provide hardware services for small projects with significant supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with customers, vendors, company employees and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical control panels and systems to meet project specifications and division design standards.
• Coordinate with panel production personnel in the fabrication of control panels.
• Develop procedures and plans for factory and field testing of control panels and systems.
• Develop PLC and HMI applications per project specifications and across multiple platforms using division/industry standards and best practices.
• Program complex sequences including lead/lag and cascade PID control systems.
• Manage multiple projects following company procedures and guidelines.
• Coordinate projects to meet expected deliverable goals for quality, schedule, and budget.
• Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
