Job summary

The Electrical/Control System Engineer I at SJE in Hoover, AL designs and tests electrical control panels and systems to meet project specs and budgets. You will work on PLC/HMI applications, panel layouts, and bill of materials, with site support and field testing from our Birmingham, Alabama office.

You will participate in fuse sizing, breaker sizing, wire sizing, and short-circuit analysis, performing in-shop tests and field startups while coordinating with project management and other

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical control panels and systems to meet project specifications and division design standards.
• Coordinate with panel production personnel in the fabrication of control panels.
• Develop procedures and plans for factory and field testing of control panels and systems.
• Develop PLC and HMI applications per project specifications using division/industry standards and best practices.
• Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
• Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
• Technical document writing including Testing Procedures, Training Plans and Sequence of Operations.
• Notify Project Managers and Group Managers of schedule/budget goals issues.
• Request quotes from vendors and verify quoted equipment meets specification requirements.
• Provide customers with technical support via phone, remote access, and onsite service.
• Attend training and continuing education related to industry.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
