Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of sales experience in building materials, lumber, hardware or a related industry.
• Experience working with contractors, builders or remodelers.
• Solid knowledge of lumber, building materials and general hardware.
• Blueprint reading or material takeoff experience is a plus.
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Able to lift up to 100 lbs, climb ladders and work in store, yard, warehouse and jobsites.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and grow relationships with contractors, builders, remodelers and professional customers.
• Prospect for new customers through phone calls, visits and networking.
• Provide expert product recommendations and solutions.
• Prepare quotes, material takeoffs and special orders.
• Coordinate jobsite deliveries and special requirements.
• Follow up on quotes and projects to win business and keep customers coming back.
• Stay informed on competitor products and pricing.
• Process customer orders accurately using POS systems.
• Maintain sales and gross margin goals.
• Keep management updated on sales activity, customer opportunities and upcoming projects.
