Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Arboriculture, or a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
• Associate Degree in one of the same fields and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in utility vegetation management.
• High school diploma with a minimum of six (6) years as a forester or other related position in the utility industry.
• Learns company procedures while assisting senior foresters.
• Performs inspections and contractor support under direct supervision.
• Develops technical knowledge and field experience.
• Good verbal, written communications, and computer skills.
• Positive attitude/neat professional appearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the company forester(s) with the overall vegetation management in an assigned territory.
• Patrol & inspect electric utility right of way in order to determine appropriate management activities.
• Assist in the investigation of property owner & customer concerns.
• Assist in the monitoring of all vegetation management activities for contract compliance.
• Assist with storm restoration or other emergency situations as directed by AEP.
• Under direction, communicate work to be performed to the vegetation contractors.
• Assist with random observations/inspections of vegetation crews for the purpose of observing & documenting work practices specifically related to safety compliance.
• Conduct inspections of completed vegetation management work in order to ensure compliance to applicable guidelines &/or standards for vegetation clearances & work quality including follow-up entry of inspection data on applicable forms & in applicable computer systems.
• Assume other duties & responsibilities as assigned.
• Senior Level Roles Will Also Include The Following
• Responsible for overseeing vegetation management activities & budgets in an assigned territory with minimal oversight.
• Under direction, monitor budgets, develop & manage forestry work plans.
• Investigate property owner & customer concerns.
• Monitor all vegetation management activities for contract compliance.

Education
