Job summary

Atlas Field Services is seeking a Contract Forester to join our team as a full-time employee in the Athens and Atlanta, GA area. The role focuses on vegetation management for utility corridors, coordinating with landowners and contractors, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The position requires a forestry degree, arborist certification or related degree, and several years of field experience in inventory/design arborism and utility planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Forestry or related field required.
• ISA Certified Arborist or Natural Sciences BS Degree required.
• At least 3 years’ experience as an inventory arborist, design arborist, or quality arborist.
• Minimum of 1 year utility line clearance or utility work planning experience.
• Fully qualified to relieve a client's arborist.
• Proficient in OM and CM work processes and WMS processes.
• Ability to learn GPS/GIS based systems.
• Customer service experience required.
• Basic tree identification skills.
• Basic knowledge of electric utility systems.
• Knowledge of regional tree species, growth rates, and failure characteristics.

Responsibilities

• Inspect rights-of-way to assess vegetation conditions and determine required maintenance activities.
• High utilization of client systems and applications.
• Assist with developing bid package maps and work manifests.
• Research easement and land rights for widths, rights, and restrictions.
• Meet with landowners to explain vegetation management work.
• Mark works in the field where required.
• Respond to public concerns and questions about the work.
• Assist in the development of public relations materials.
• Respond to contractor questions concerning work specification and requirements.
• Inspect work completed by contractors for compliance with utility specifications.
• Assist in the management of contractors during storm restoration operations.
• Provide support and assistance on special projects assigned by the utility.
