Job summary

MDS Staffing is seeking a Phlebotomist for Port Charlotte, FL. The contract role runs for 3 months with potential for permanent placement. Schedule is Mon-Fri 7am-3:30pm, and benefits are available.

The ideal candidate has 2-4 years of diagnostic phlebotomy experience, with pediatric to geriatric patient care capabilities. Responsibilities include blood draws, specimen labeling, and adherence to OSHA/DEP regulations.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains the venipuncture process in a clear but courteous manner.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physician orders and match requisitions to specimen tubes.
• Package specimens for transport and store according to required conditions.
• Attend annual department trainings.
