Job summary

Talent With Heart in Shelby, NC is seeking a Phlebotomist for a short-term contract with potential for permanent placement. Schedule is M-F, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with responsibilities including blood draws, specimen labeling, and accurate data entry.

Minimum 1 year of experience is preferred, and benefits are available. The role requires phlebotomy certification and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the employing state.
• Minimum 6 months' venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital.
• High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and label, centrifuge, and decontaminate specimens; update patient information.
• Explain venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrate technique with straight and butterfly needles.
• Match lab requisitions to tubes and label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Check requisitions for accuracy and transport specimens as needed.
• Package specimens for transport and store at required temperatures; follow OSHA/DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer calls and relay lab results to inquiries.
