Formación

• Minimum 6 months' venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or clinical setting.
• Phlebotomy certification required for the state of employment.

Responsabilidades

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Explain venipuncture process clearly to patients.
• Demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles and follow physicians' orders.
• Match requisition forms to tubes, label, centrifuge, and freeze specimens as required.
• Verify test requisitions against scripts to ensure accuracy; package specimens for transport.
• Store specimens at required temperatures and label containers correctly for transport.
• Understand OSHA/DEP regulations and attend annual trainings.
• Answer phone calls and relay laboratory results as needed.
