Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients as required.
• Demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand physicians' orders and match requisitions to specimen tubes.
• Package specimens for transport and store per protocol to maintain integrity.
• Attend department trainings and assist with OSHA/DEP regulations.
