Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification as required by state.
• Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in fast-paced labs or hospitals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures; explains venipuncture process clearly to patients as required.
• Demonstrates technique using straight or butterfly needles; matches requisitions to specimen tubes; labels, centrifuges, splits and freezes specimens as needed.
• Packages specimens for transport; maintains specimen temperature; complies with OSHA and DEP regulations; attends annual trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and communicate lab results to satisfy inquiries.
