Metrics LLC provides acquisition and program support to federal agencies. We have been awarded a contract supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs Enterprise Procurement Office, and we are adding a Contract Closeout Specialist to the team. This is a fully remote, full-time position.
About the role
You will work a queue of VA contracts that are ready for closeout and carry each one from first action to final signature. Each month the team takes on a set number of new closeouts and is measured on completing them within 60 days, so this role suits someone who is organized, works steadily through a caseload, and follows up until a file is closed.
What you'll do
- Initiate and complete closeouts for firm-fixed-price, time-and-materials, and other contract types in accordance with FAR 4.804 and VA policy.
- Confirm final invoices are paid, reconcile remaining balances, and prepare de-obligation modifications (SF 30) for unliquidated funds.
- Request and track releases of claims, contract completion statements, and other required documents from vendors and Contracting Officers.
- Update data in the VA's Electronic Contract Management System (eCMS), tag documents to the contract file, and correct FPDS records as needed.
- Review obligation history and invoice status in VA financial systems (FMS, IPPS, IFCAP).
- Keep your closeout register current and contribute to the monthly Closeout Report.
- Support weekend coverage during the fiscal year-end surge (last two weeks of September and first week of October).
Requirements
- Associate's degree or higher.
- At least 4 years of federal contracting experience, including hands-on contract closeout.
- Working knowledge of the FAR, including closeout timelines and procedures.
- Experience with at least one federal contract writing or financial system (eCMS, PRISM, PD2/SPS, FPDS, IFCAP, FMS, or similar).
- Strong written communication and the discipline to manage a high-volume caseload against deadlines.
- U.S. based, with a reliable high-speed internet connection.
- Must be able to pass a VA background investigation and complete VA security and privacy training before starting.
- One trip to Frederick, MD or Fredericksburg, VA to pick up a government laptop.
Nice to have
- Prior VA contracting experience, especially in eCMS or IFCAP.
- Experience with de-obligations, quick closeouts, and zero-dollar closeouts.
- FAC-C or DAWIA contracting certification.
